Cultivating expertise: my undergraduate journey

My academic journey began with a Bachelor of Music (B.Mus) at McMaster University, laying a comprehensive groundwork in musical theory, performance and history. This foundation was enriched by an invaluable international experience of a one-year study abroad at the University of Sheffield in the UK. This global exposure broadened my understanding of diverse educational practices and cultural contexts, shaping my perspective as an educator.

Advanced learning: mastering the craft

Building on my undergraduate studies, I pursued a Master of Arts at York University where my research was mainly focusing on the interdisciplinary study between music and other subjects. My commitment to continuous learning is further enhanced by my current enrollment in the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) program at Ottawa University. These experiences equip me with both profound subject matter expertise and innovative teaching methodologies, ensuring a rich and effective learning environment for all students.

My teaching style is deeply rooted in inclusivity, flexibility, and a profound respect for diverse ways of learning. I intentionally design lessons that acknowledge and celebrate that students learn at different paces and through varied approaches. I champion differentiated instruction, student choice and multi-modal learning, enabling every student to engage with the curriculum through their strengths while still being appropriately challenged.
